Three Letter Words Fair: Events and Launches, Rochelle School, Saturday 22 November 2014
Three Letter Words Fair Join us for a live reading, workshops, performances and launches throughout the day. Events and Workshops in the Attic Space at Club Row 2.00–4.00 p.m. Performance as Publishing: Under Milk Wood A live reading of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood. Subtitled A Play for Voices, the work was commissioned by the BBC in 1954. It drifts through the houses and minds of the inhabitants of fictional small Welsh fishing village Llareggub, recounting the villagers’ innermost thoughts. Visitors are invited to participate in the reading by signing up on the day, or dropping in during the reading to be allocated a part. Live sound effects will be provided by Matt Lewis. Viewers/listeners welcome. Performance as Publishing is a research project by Ruth Beale and Nicole Bachman investigating the overlaps between performance practice, events, discourse and writing. Performance generated through the processes of OpeRaArt. Text is generated in an improvised manner similar to automatic writing. Words are put through various electronic processes. This working method entails a form of subjective bifurcation: the artist splits into the two entities of performer and producer/editor. OpeRaArt has a relationship to the libretto: both the stage directions and the subtitling machines. Image: Anat Ben-David. Courtesy Anat and Jet
